Desiree Frenette

Therapist

I warmly welcome children, youth, and adults who are navigating life’s challenges, whether related to trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use and addiction, grief, or the unique experiences of neurodivergence and other disabilities. I also hold a special openness to supporting first responders and others in high-stress roles.

I hold a Master of Social Work, a Bachelor of Social Work, and an Advanced Child and Youth Care Diploma. With over 12 years of experience across community mental health settings and my own lived experiences with trauma, mental health challenges, grief, and substance use, I bring both professional knowledge and deep empathy to the people I work with.

My approach is trauma-specific and holistic, blending somatic and nervous system–based practices with evidence-informed modalities such as polyvagal, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches. I aim to create a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you feel safe to explore your story and receive support in your healing journey.

I understand the importance of feeling truly connected to your therapist. If you think we would be a good match, head over to my profile to book a free 15-minute phone consultation! I would be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing, resilience, and connection to your authentic self.

Fun Fact: I feel most at home in nature—whether I’m hiking a new trail, going for a swim in Georgian Bay, or just enjoying a quiet moment in the sun.
