About the event
As a healthcare provider, it is inevitable that you will encounter people who struggle with addiction, mental health challenges, and associated behaviours.
According to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH, 2026), mental illness and substance use disorders are among the leading causes of disability in Canada, with a disease burden greater than all cancers combined in Ontario.
While many healthcare providers receive an introductory lesson on addiction, very few leave their training feeling fully equipped to assess, understand, and respond to the complexity of addiction and recovery.
In this workshop, you will leave with a fully developed assessment tool that explores trauma, addiction patterns, and mental health diversity, along with appropriate treatment modalities based on where your client is in their recovery journey.
You will also learn practical strategies to strengthen the therapeutic relationship, allowing you to convey a deeper understanding of addiction so clients feel seen, understood, and supported…
