Kimberly Berrio
Therapist
Hi there! My name is Kim. I am a therapist whose practice is deeply rooted in evidence-based and somatic modalities that help people recognize the profound connection between their mind, body, and lived experiences. My professional journey is built on a diverse foundation of intensive care and deep human connection. I received my Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and continue to practice as a registered nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). I have spent years holding space for individuals navigating some of life’s most profound and vulnerable moments. These experiences have allowed me to blend evidence-based frameworks with a deeply humanistic, compassionate lens.
My therapeutic practice involves helping people understand themselves and how they respond to their circumstances by exploring their internal environments and working together to integrate different aspects for holistic healing and self-acceptance. It's important to me that my work with clients includes a trauma-informed, integrative and flexible approach to care. I incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and somatic tracking to help clients process difficult memories, navigate major life transitions, and move past that feeling of being stuck.
In my free time, I am drawn to anything creative where I can engage both my mind and my hands. You can usually find me covered in clay at a pottery wheel, lost in a great book, or tending to my vegetable garden. I regularly spend time on my mat practicing yoga and meditation, cultivating the same mindfulness and groundedness that I enjoy bringing into my sessions.
